Sydney Sixers‘ Ashleigh Gardner got struck by ball on her helmet during Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) match against Perth Scorchers. Gardner is one of the most crucial campaigners for the Sixers as she blasted a 114 in the very first match of the season. However, Sixers will have to take field without her as they face Hobart Hurricanes in their next. This was Gardner’s second concussion in recent times, the first was when she was hit by the ball during the second Women’s Ashes ODI.
The ball hit Gardner in the grille of her helmet. Though it was a mild one, she was left unsettled and soon gave his wicket, scoring 7 off 12. She also did not take field as the Sixers eventually failed to defend their 122 for 8. Gardner, who had scored 114 and 47 earlier, helped her team won both their previous matches. Sixers have announced bowler Carly Leeson to be the Gardner’s replacement for the next match.
