Kolkata: Bengal pacer Ashok Dinda was today named vice-captain as skipper Manoj Tiwary appeared to be a doubtful starter for their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Madhya Pradesh in Mumbai from February 3-7. Tiwary is recovering from a hamstring injury but he was still named in the 16-member squad that had two new comers in pacer Ishan Porel and batsman Prasenjit Das. The squad, accompanied by eight support staff including coach Sairaj Bahutule, will leave for Mumbai tomorrow afternoon.
Bengal will enter the match against Madhya Pradesh as favourites even though Tiwary may be out from the fixture. They have plenty of quality players in their ranks in the form of Wriddhiman Saha (who is now a permanent fixture in the India Test setup), Pragyan Ojha and Shreevats Goswami among others. Sudip Chatterjee has been in stellar form for Bengal this season and will look for a big score when it comes to the playoff stage.
