WICKET No. 4 goes down. A flighted delivery from Yuzvendra Chahal and Babar Hayat, goinig for a booming drive, edges it to MS Dhoni. Hong Kong are 199/4 and the required rate is over nine. This is India’s game to lose from here onward.

WICKET! Khaleel strikes again. His second wicket of the match as Christopher Carter edges to Dhoni. Hong Kong’s inexperience coming to the fore. The equation gets stiffer. Hong Kong are 3 down for 192 and need another 94 off 64.

India will have quite some work to do tomorrow.

  • 12:00 AM IST

OUT, Wicket No. 2. Khaleel Ahmed has picked up his first international wicket. He comes round the wicket and traps the dangerous-looking Nizakat Khan for 92. Ouch, there goes a hundred. But is this the beginning of the slide? The asking rate continues to climb. It’s over 8.5.

  • 11:52 PM IST

You knew this was all a matter of one wicket. The situation is getting tense for Hong Kong with 112 needed off 90. Kuldeep has foxed Babar Hayat with four dot balls mixing his variations well. Hong Kong 174/1.

WICKET! Finally, the long wait is over. India had the wait 34 overs but they have finally broken through. Skipper Anshuman Rath holes out to cover off Kuldeep Yadav. He is gutted at himself.

  • 11:19 PM IST

And now it’s captain Anshuman Rath, who brings up his seventh half-century. Hong Kong have been brilliant so far. But India have dried up the runs in the last 10 overs and the asking rate has gone past 7 an over. This is where Hong Kong’s real Test lies. 147 needed off 21 overs.

  • 11:05 PM IST

We are halfway through the innings and Hong Kong are batting like a dream. They are 130/0 with Nizakat Khan and Anshuman Rath taking the team forward. India desperately need a wicket now. Nizakat is struggling a bit with his fitness but is showing no signs of slowing down. No body was expecting this. What 11 players couldn’t score for Hong Kong against Pakistan, these two have put on more than that.

So the 100 has come up for Hong Kong, their highest opening stand in ODI cricket. They are 101/0 in 18 overs. Still some time to go for India to start worrying but they would really like to get a breakthrough here.

Asia Cup 2018, India vs Hong Kong, LIVE Cricket Score, 4th ODI, Dubai: Khaleel gets dangerous Nizakat for first wicket

Game four of the 2018 Asia Cup in Dubai on Tuesday pits India against Hong Kong against India, and if the result of Sunday’s match against Pakistan is any indication, Anshuman Rath’s team is up against a mountain.

Such is the nature of the Asia Cup that one defeats turns the next game into a virtual knock-out. Being bowled out for 116 – the lowest ODI total in Dubai – shows that Hong Kong have their work cut out against an Indian bowling attack featuring the formidable wrist-spinning pair of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who bamboozled South Africa earlier this year and gave England’s batsman some tough times this summer.

For India, without Virat Kohli and led by Rohit Sharma, this is a return to ODI after five Test matches against England. India have to lock in their pool of players for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, and with several members of the current squad attempting comebacks, getting the right combinations is critical. Ahead of the big match with Pakistan on Wednesday, making a strong start against Hong Kong on Tuesday is the way forward.
