There have been a lot of discussion going on about Asia Cup 2025 and amidst all these questions, a big update has come out on this whole matter. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Asia Cup can be organized in September.
Nothing has been decided yet, but it looks like a formal decision could be taken next week. Interestingly, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is expected to release the schedule for the six-team tournament in the first week of July when they are likely to meet.
If everything goes as planned, the ACC is aiming to start the tournament in the second week of September and to be precise, the tournament, which will be played in the T20 format, could begin from September 10. Along with India and Pakistan, it will also feature teams from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the UAE. In fact, some promotional activities for the tournament have already begun.
The UAE remains the frontrunner to host the tournament, although there are some talks of hosting it in a hybrid format. India is set to host this time, but the ACC had already decided that when it is India or Pakistan’s turn to host the Asia Cup, the tournament will be held at a neutral venue.

The tournament was plunged into uncertainty after the terror attack in Pahalgam in April. Matters escalated further after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan in May, raising serious questions over the tournament’s future. There was also a growing demand in India to boycott Pakistan in multilateral events. Anyway, India does not play bilateral cricket with Pakistan. There was even talk that India’s boycott of Pakistan in global events would be discussed in the next ICC meeting.
