Australia thrashed minnows Scotland by seven wickets during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Pool A match on Saturday. Australia chased the 131-run target down with more than 34 overs to spare, with James Faulkner and David Warner were batting on scores of 16 and 21 respectively. Rob Taylor, Josh Davey and Iain Wardlaw all took a wicket each, conceding 29, 38 and 57 runs respectively. Australia gained two points from the dominating victory as a result, moving to the second position on the points table as a result. Scorecard: Australia vs Scotland

The hosts barely broke a sweat during the chase of the target, save a couple of occasions. Finch got the Aussies off to a strong start, smashing three fours and a six during his brief stay at the crease. He was eventually caught by Freddie Coleman off the bowling of Taylor. Skipper Michael Clarke, who promoted himself to the top of the batting order instead of the usual opening batsman David Warner, plunder the hapless Scottish bowling attack, bringing up the 50-run mark for his side in the eighth over. Watson who was in an aggressive mood at the crease, engaged in a bit of banter with Taylor in the 10th over, giving some of the treatment back to the bowler with a couple of boundaries. The dashing all-rounder, who has had a mixed run in the tournament so far, hit four boundaries during his innings, before getting caught by wicket-keeper Matthew Cross off the bowling of Josh Davey while attempting to play a scoop. Clarke smashed seven fours and two sixes to race to a score of 47, looking forward to completing the formalities of the match himself. He however, fell short of a 58th One-Day International (ODI) half-century when he was caught by Michael Leask off the bowling of Iain Wardlaw, with Australia losing their third wicket with 92 on board. Clarke’s dismissal was followed shortly by the second spell of rain in the day, with the umpires taking the supper break at the same time. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: SCHEDULE & MATCH DETAILS

Scotland earlier were bowled out for a paltry score of 130 in 25.4 overs. Matt Machan top-scored for the Scots with a 35-ball 40, which included six boundaries. Comeback man Pat Cummins, who replaced Xavier Doherty for this game, caused much of the early damage along with Mitchell Starc. Scotland were reeling at 95 for eight, facing the risk of being the first team in the tournament to get bowled out for a score below 100. A ninth-wicket stand between Josh Davey (26) and Michael Leask (23), worth 35 off 31 balls, prevented such a thing from happening. Starc returned after a brief spell of rain to clean up the rest of the order, moving to the top of the bowling charts in the process. Top 10 bowlers in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
