Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and chose to bowl first in their World Cup Group A match with trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand at the Vidarbha Cricket Association, Jamtha, Nagpur on Friday.
Australia made a winning start to their World Cup campaign beating Zimbabwe by 91 runs in their first game, while New Zealand mauled Kenya by 10 wickets in their opening game.
Both the teams will be competing for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy during their game on Friday. Usually the prize is up for grabs only during the bilateral series, but this was the only chance to fit it in during the 2010-11 season.
