Matthew Wade on Tuesday said the current Australian cricketers will look up to their seniors and former cricketers for advice on the revised pay-structure issue. There has been a rift between Cricket Australia (CA) and Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) after the former announced that the cricketers will no longer be given a 20 per cent share of the total revenue of CA’s earnings. It is learnt that the revenue sharing model has been a structure for the players for a long time now, and will be discontinued as per the board’s decision following June 30, the day the current Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) ends. CA, on the other hand, wants to get a new payment structure in place. READ – David Warner: Australia might not have a team for Ashes 2017-18

Wade told SEN on Tuesday, “Hopefully it gets resolved; we don’t want to be unemployed for a period of time. But if it gets there we’ll have to do what it takes. We’ll fall into line with what the big dogs do. The senior players will kind of direct us on which way to go. We’ll obviously be guided by the ACA. But I don’t think we’re asking for anything more, we’re just asking for exactly what we’ve got now and to continue that model.”

Earlier, it was David Warner, who had come out in public saying if the rift continues, CA will not have a team to send for the Ashes. CA and ACA are expected to meet on Wednesday about the matter to be resolved. However, Australia will take part in ICC Champions Trophy starting June 1, as it falls within the period of the current MoU.
