Glenn Maxwell smashed an unbeaten ton in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on Tuesday and guided his side to a scintillating victory. Australia had a torrid time in the Test series but bounced back hard in the ODIs and have now won the first T20I. Maxwell have had a tough time in the recent times and was also dropped from the side due to mere runs column. He opened the batting for the side and remained unbeaten on 145 while he endured just 65 deliveries in which he scored four boundaries and nine maximums.
Australia posted 263 in the first innings and won the game convincingly by 85 runs. This innings has bolstered Maxwell’s confidence and will now be the man to watch put for in the distant future. Sri Lanka managed only 178 runs as their batting didn’t click while chasing a mammoth target. Many records were created as Australia raced to a scintillating total. They now hold the record for highest total in T20Is. Maxwell is also the second highest run-scorer in T20Is with his knock of 145 not out.
This innings from Maxwell has set Twitter on fire, check out some tweets here:
