It was predicted and it happened. The important ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 fixture between Bangladesh and Australia at Gabba, was washed out due to continuous rain at Brisbane on Saturday. This was only the second World Cup match which was abandoned without a single ball being bowled. In 1979 World Cup, the West Indies vs Sri Lanka game at the Oval, was the first match in World Cup which met similar fate. Now because of this result at Gabba, both teams had to share one point each. Since morning, it never looked like that a full game was possible as it rained continuously in Brisbane. But the local groundstaff tried hard to organise the game when the rain stopped for a while. Michale Clarke, the regular Aussie skipper was all set to make a comeback in this playing eleven after after a hamstring injury. But now he has to wait for Australia’s next fixture (Against Afghanistan) to get back on the field. The result was very disappointing for Australia, as they were the red-hot favourites to win this game.
