The Bureau of Meteorology of Australia reported on Monday that there is a 90% chance of rain on the last 2 days of the Brisbane Test played between the Baggy Greens and India which is Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a possibility of 5 to 30 mm of rainfall on Tuesday whereas the possibility of rain is 2 to 25 mm.
On Monday, the play was interrupted by the rain on regular intervals at The Gabba. Eventually, rain also stopped play completely with India on 51/4, trailing by 394 runs. The third day of the match saw Australia get bundled out for 445 before the Men in Blue ended up losing 4 wickets in 17 overs.
For India, KL Rahul finished the day unbeaten on 33 while skipper Rohit Sharma is yet to open his account. Majority of the third session was washed out as rain showed no sign of stopping. It only witnessed a total of 3 overs where the Men in Blue managed to 3 runs.
The play was interrupted during the second session. However, the covers eventually did come off as the match resumed for some time. That short period also proved to be fatal for India as they ended up losing Rishabh Pant for 9 runs and were restricted to 44/4.
Rahul was by far India’s standout performer during the third day as he kept the scoreboard ticking on one end and even played some marvelous shots. In his unbeaten knock of 33, Rahul scored 4 beautiful boundaries.
