A fighting century by Nicolas Pooran has given West Indies some hope in the ICC Under-19 World Cup against Australia at Dubai. Pooran’s record ninth-wicket partnership with Jerome Jones helped him to reach his ton. This is Pooran’s career-best innings. The Australians got the first eight wickets for 80 runs but were frustrated as Pooran’s batting kept the bowlers at bay.

Pooran’s batting technique was a delight to watch as kept hitting the ball straight and was equally impressive  with his matured approach when the team was in trouble. Pooran came in to bat arly on when his team was three wickets down for seven.

He not only attacked the Aussies but also shielded Jones from taking the strike by picking a single on the last ball of almost every over. They brought up the fifty partnership in 47 balls with Jones scoring only two of them.
