Australia got off to a steady start in reply to West Indies’ total of 208 in the quarterfinal of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday. Matthew Short hit a boundary in the second over.

Jaron Morgan then went after Ray Jordan hitting for consecutive boundaries. The openers put up a positive approach against the pacers. Morgan in the fifth over hit one more boundary off spinner Gudakesh Motie. Skipper Ramaal Lewis used four bowlers in the first seven overs. Both the batsmen attempted some tight singles and survived a few run-out chances. Morgan in particular has been more aggressive of the two. Pooran even missed a stumping chance to dismiss Morgan.

Earlier, West Indies recovered from 70 for eight to reach 208. Nicolas Pooran scored his maiden U-19 ton hitting 143 in 160 balls which included 14 boundaries and six sixes.
