Azhar Ali has been dismissed for a slightly scratchy 36 off 54 balls by way of run out. Mohammad Hafeez tapped the ball to point where James Taylor fielded the ball quickly and threw it towards the keeper who gleefully whipped off the bails with Azhar not even in the picture. The blame for the dismissal can’t be laid on a single batsman. It was a bad call by Hafeez to begin with but Azhar initially responded but then got stuck after taking a couple of steps and could never make it. He walked back dejected and upset. Sarfraz Ahmed is the new batsman in and he has been in fairly good form. It is important for him and Hafeez to build a solid platform as another wicket at this stage could prove disastrous. The first wicket to fall in the day was Babar Azam. Azam took on a rising ball from Chris Woakes with a hook shot but only got the top edge which carried the ball to fine leg where Rashid pouched a easy catch. LIVE UPDATES: Pakistan vs England, 3rd ODI at Sharjah
Pakistan is currently the team under the pump after loss of that second wicket but the silver lining is that Hafeez has been striking the ball nicely and his timing has been very good. Hafeez must carry on for a big score and with the form he’s exhibiting that’s a certain possibility. England will be aware that both batsman at the crease have been in great form and if they fail to make a wicket the match could well be over for them.
