Bangladesh are 13 runs short of erasing deficit as they reached 93 for the loss of one wicket in their second innings at Tea on Day three of the second Test at Colombo on Monday.

The visitors were cruising along in the second innings when Tamim Iqbal was bowled by Shaminda Eranga for a well compiled 59 just at the stroke of Tea. Iqbal along with Jahurul Islam put on a partnership of 91 runs to give their team a fighting chance against the Lankans.

Bangladesh got off to a steady start after bowling out Sri Lanka for 346. Earlier, Sri Lanka went past Bangladesh’s first innings total of 240 to take a 54-run lead on Day Two as Kumar Sangakkara slammed his third consecutive Test century with able support from Dinesh Chandimal who also notched up a 100.

Sangakkara and Chandimal put on a partnership of 195 runs for the fifth wicket as the Bangladesh bowler failed to get a breakthrough.
