After Steve Smith, David Warner will fly back to Australia next week from the Bangladesh Premier League on account of an injury.

Warner is set to leave Bangladesh on January 21 with an elbow injury just days after his former Australia captain Smith ended his campaign with a similar injury for which he successfully underwent surgery on Monday.

He will play two more matches for his franchise Sylhet Sixers, for whom he has scored two fifties in five innings, the most recent coming on Wednesday in 27-run win over Rangpur Riders.

“David has reported some pain in his right elbow,” a CA spokesperson said. “He will return to Australia on Monday 21 January to be assessed, but is expected to play in remaining BPL matches until his return. We will have a clearer understanding of the extent of the injury once he has been assessed.”
