Australia’s former wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin has said that the presence of youngsters such as Cameron Bancroft and Andrew Fekete will show the cricket world how good the country’s domestic cricket circuit is. Australia had on Monday named an inexperienced squad for the tour of Bangladesh in October, wherein they will be playing a two-Test series. Haddin, who retired from Test cricket after returning home while the fifth and final Ashes 2015 Test was in progress, says that the depth in Australian cricket will be on display on the tour of Bangladesh. “I knew I was getting old when I saw that squad; I’ve never played against [Andrew] Fekete or [Cameron] Bancroft. This is going to give a lot of guys exposure at Test level and show how good our competition here is in Australia,” Haddin told Sky Sports radio on Tuesday. Speaking about his retirement, which came after 66 Tests for Australia, the veteran cricketer said he was glad it was over. “I’m glad it’s all done and dusted and I can get on with life now. I’ll play a bit of T20 cricket around the world over the next 18 months, so I just want to enjoy a bit of time at home and watch the kids grow up for a while.”

“It was a different campaign for a number of reasons, obviously England took back the ashes, but for a personal reason it didn’t go the way I would’ve liked it. I made a decision at the time for my family, I have no regrets about that, I have to live with the consequences of that decision and I’m content with where it all sits now,” he added.

Haddin would now get more time to spend time with his family, especially his daughter Mia who is recovering at present after illness. He said, “She had a tough time since Cardiff, she had some internal bleeds that we couldn’t get on top of but she’s since had surgery and that’s all gone to plan… she’s coming back to normal, she’s terrorising her brothers…I know she’s starting to feel better. It’s been a different sort of ride for us but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
