Sri Lanka pulled off a stunning victory over Bangladesh to qualify in the final of the Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series. Bangladesh were undefeated in the series dominating every game, however they failed miserably on Thursday.
The hosts were bowled out for 82 after electing to bat with Suranga Lakmal taking 3 for 21. Only two Bangladesh batsmen managed to score in double digit. Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest scorer, managing 26 off 56 balls.
Sri Lanka achieved the target comfortably in 11 overs with loss of no wickets. Opener Danushka Gunathilaka and Upul Tharanga scored 35 and 39 runs respectively. With the win Sri Lanka have secured their place in the final against the host on January 27.
Turn around for Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka had a rough 2017 winning only five of their 29 games. They even started 2018 with two defeats which included one against Zimbabwe in the second match of the series. Sri Lanka won their second encounter against Zimbabwe registering their first win of the year.
However, Sri Lanka have completely dominated against Bangladesh in the match as they bowled out the host for 82 in 24 overs. Every Sri Lankan bowler contributed with wickets with Lakmal taking the most. The openers did the job for Lanka as they recorded biggest win against Bangladesh in terms of balls left (229).
