Afghanistan suffered a big blow when they lost their batting mainstay Nawroz Mangal, who was run out for 24, in their Asia Cup 2014 against Bangladesh at Fatullah on Saturday.
Mangal batted well during his innings of 24, which was studded with three boundaries.
Afghanistan had their hopes pinned on Nawroz Mangal and Asghar Stanikzai, who had steadied them after initial blows against Bangladesh.
Stanikzai has been in his usual mood so far, adopting a cautious approach to reach seven not out off 18 balls. On the other hand, Mangal has struck three boundaries to score 23 not out off 28 balls.
Sadiq, who showed aggressive intent as he hit the left-arm Bangladesh spinner for a six, was foxed by a slower one off which he got a leading edge and the bowler took an easy catch. This was after Shahzad was trapped in front of the wickets by Bangladesh bowler Rubel Hossain for two off eight balls.
Afghanistan were 80 for four after 24 overs.
Earlier during the toss, Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bowl first. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim said that the pitch is dry and should be a good chase. Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi says they are happy to bat first.
