Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes came out all guns blazing in the first One-Day International (ODI) against England at Mirpur and scored a scintillating ton to steer his side to a commanding position. He got the ball rolling from the outset at Mirpur and has played a scintillating innings under pressure. Bangladesh are chasing a huge target of 310 on a surface, which looked conducive for batting. Kayes smashed a big six in the very first over and gave signs of his intentions right from the start. Bangladesh are now in a commendable position and look all set to win the game.

Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Ben Duckett played incredibly to help England post a massive total after losing early wickets and losing the momentum mid-way. Bangladeshi bowlers did a good job in the start but dropped catches and misfieldings didn’t let them restrict England for a lower total. Their batsmen needed to come out hard and that is exactly what Imrul Kayes  did when he opened the batting with Tamim Iqbal for Bangladesh. Iqbal floundered early but Kayes continued to hit boundaries and punish the loose deliveries. He realised the need to bid his time against the new ball and placed his innings sensibly.

Sabbir Rahman looked goo but some brilliant catching at the boundary by Jake Bell brought an end to his innings. Mahmudullah too fell prey to Adil Rashid’s persistence so did Mushfiqur Rahim. Shakib Al Hasan has accompanied well and stitched a match-winning partnership along with Kayes to steer his side to a dominating position.
