Rain washed out play for a third straight day in the second and final Test between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka on Sunday. Match officials called off the fourth day’s play at 1:05 pm local time without the teams having taken to the field following continuous heavy showers. Not a single ball was bowled on the second and third days either because of the weather, after Bangladesh reached 246 for eight in their first innings on the opening day. The highlight of the second Test so far has been South African pacer Dale Steyn‘s three for 30, which enabled him to become just the 13th cricketer in history to claim 400-plus Test wickets. The first Test in Chittagong ended in a draw after rain washed out play on the last two days. SCORECARD: Bangladesh vs South Africa, 2nd Test at Dhaka, Day 4
Earlier in the Test, Bangladesh won the toss, with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim electing to bat first. Bangladesh and South Africa announced a change each in their playing elevens — Nasir Hossain coming in place of Taijul Islam for the hosts and Dane Vilas replacing Quinton de Kock as the South African wicketkeeper batsman. Dale Steyn earned his 400th Test wicket when he dismissed Tamim Iqbal, who edged a delivery pitched outside off to the slips. Mushfiqur Rahim (65) top-scored for the hosts, while JP Duminy (3 for 27) and Steyn (3 for 30) were the picks among the South African bowlers.
