Barisal Bulls ended up making 148 for 6 against Dhaka Dynamites in Match No.2 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016. Both teams clashed at the Shere Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur, Dhaka which saw witness to some solid, and expressive batting by Mushfiqur Rahim and Shahriar Nafees. Both the players recorded their respective half-centuries which enable them a par score starting off poorly with the bat. Rahim remained not-out 50* runs coming off 34-balls. Rahim’s included 4 boundaries and 2 massive sixes.

Mohammad Shahid was the pick of the bowlers from the Dynamites side, snatching as many as three-wickets for 21 runs. Shahid continued his good show with the ball, picking up his third wicket in the form of Rayed Emrit. Emrit tyring to go for the glory shot gave a simple catch straight into the hands of Nasir for a 2-ball 1. Ravi Bopara who was used managed to pick up his first wicket in his Thisera Perera trying to heave Bopara over mid-wicket managed only to spoon a simple catch towards the fielder for 3.

Both Rahim and Nafees spared no-one taking the skilled Bravo for 13 runs in his second over. Rahim and Nafees added much needed stability to the Bulls inning making a 82 runs for the fourth wicket. Nafees went for a 34-ball 55, handing Shahid his second wicket. Nafees got out to a unlucky manner, chopping the ball on to his stumps. Shahid bowled a inviting delivery to which Nafees gave in and edged the ball onto his stumps.

Nafees brought-up his half-century in just 31 balls which included 7 fours and 2 massive sixes. Nafees was lucky to survive against Shakib after hitting him for 12 runs in the 14th over.

Nafees also brought up 50 run stand with Rahim with a six. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat came into bowl his first over was was canted for 12 runs thanks to boundaries by Nafees. Nafees on the first ball went over square boundary for a four and then top-edged one over short fine leg.

Rahim tore into Babu picking him up for 10 runs out of the 17 in his first over. Rahim dispatched him over the mid-wicket region for six to follow it up with a four off a scoop.Nafees treated him with a boundary first ball towards the third man region. Alauddin Babu came into attack soon, which mind you was the eight bowler in the Dynamite innings.

It is tough to keep out Shakib for a long time. Shakib struck in his second over getting the wicket of Malan. Malan tried to go for a slog sweep gave away a simple catch to Champion Bravo making 16 runs. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim came out to bat and resurrect Bulls inning. Bravo came into the attack and provide Dynamites with a wicket in his first over. Dilshan Munaweera falls for the slower delivery and hands a high flying Nasir Hossain a awesome catch at cover-point.

Shakib came into bat as early as fourth over of the innings. He was unlucky not to a wicket in his first over as Kumar Sangakkara dropped Malan on 4. To add to Shakib’s misery, Malan hit him for a crushing six in the very same over. David Malan came into bat at No.3 .Dynamites started poorly with the bat losing the their opener Shamsur Rahman in the very second over.

Shamsur had already hit a boundary in the first over of Mohammad Shahid. Shamur went for the expansive shot which found a thick edge and into the hands of the first slip. The ball, to his bad luck got more bounce off the pitch.

Dhaka Dynamites won the toss and skipper Shakib elected to field first. Dynamites in their side had Kumar Sangakkara, Ravi Bopara, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo in their playing XI. Barisal Bulls on the other hand had included the likes of Shahriar Nafees, Thisara Perera, Taijul Islam and Rayad Emrit in their playing XI.
