Indian batting failed in their first warmup match against Australia at Bangalore, as they set a target of 215 runs for Australia to win. Virender Sehwag top scored with 54 runs for India as all other batsmen failed to convert their starts into big scores.
Sachin Tendulkar didn’t play the match as did Zaheer Khan. In Tendulkar’s absence, Gautam Gambhir and Sehwag opened the Indian innings with Virat Kohli coming in at No. 3.
For Australia Brett Lee took 3 wickets for 35 runs, while John Hastings finished with 2 wickets that cost him 24 runs in six overs.
Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made 25 crucial runs from 47 balls and his 49-run partnership with Yusuf Pathan (32 runs of 38 balls) for the ninth wicket took India past 200.
Brief Score: India 214 all out in 44.3 overs (Virender Sehwag 54 runs, Yusuf Pathan 32 runs, Brett Lee 3 for 35, John Hastings 2 for 24) vs Australia.
