The England allrounder Tom Curran has inked a deal with Sydney Sixers, keeping him at the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise for three more years.

Playing in the BBL for the first time, the 23-year-old has claimed 20 wickets and scored 185 runs at an average of 30.83 and strike-rate of 144.54 for third-placed Sixers.

Curran, son of the late Zimbabwean allrounder Kevin and brother to Test star Sam, has been ruled out of the BBL semi-final versus Melbourne Renegades on Friday on account of breaching a Cricket Australia code during a recent match.

Fellow Englishman and Sixers team-mate Joe Denly has backed Curran for a successful career. “No one works harder on their game than Tom,” he said. “I think he’s only going to get better, which is great for the Sydney Sixers and great for England.”

Outside of the BBL, Curran played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL last year before he was released from his contract.
