New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday congratulated the Indian women’s team for winning the Asia Cup T20 tournament. The Indian Women’s team beat Pakistan by 17 runs to win the title tournament in Bangkok earlier in the day. Batting first, the Indian eves scored 121 for 5 with Mithali Raj emerging as leading scorer with 73 runs. India Women have now won all six Asia Cup tournaments. This was the first major tournament under new skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Her side was whitewashed by West Indies at home in the lead up to the tournament, but the Indian eves have responded well to that and managed to turn things around. For her brilliant unbeaten fifty, Mithali was awarded the player of the match. She ended as the leading run-scorer in the tournament as well, which fetched her the player of the tournament award as well.
