A fine of Rs. 25 percent of his match fee and one demerit point has been given to Delhi Capitals (DC) bowling coach Munaf Patel, as he breached the IPL code of Conduct during DC’s clash against Rajasthan Royals on April 16.
“Munaf Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 – which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game – and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” the IPL said in a statement on Thursday.
“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” it added.
The incident happened during Delhi’s bowling when the fourth umpire had stopped Delhi team’s reserve player from entering the field in order to convey some message. Patel was seen having some sort of argument with the umpire.
Coming to the match, DC secured an exciting super over win as Mitchell Starc had a brilliant performance with the ball. Starc did not only defend nine runs in the match-deciding over, but also kept set batters Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer to just 11 runs.
KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs guided their team to secure their first victory on the season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
