The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took the cricket world by storm as last year they announced a list of players with central contracts for the 2023-24 season. Two notable names who were not named in the list were Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. This is because both the players skipped the domestic matches even though the Indian cricketing body had ordered them to do so.

Since then, Shreyas has become a major player of the Indian ODI team. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan has also shown severe commitment to the game in style, as he scored a brilliant century in his first match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

According to a report by Hindustan Times, BCCI is likely going to give their respective central contracts back to both Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, as the board has plans to announce the complete list of players for the 2024-25 season.

The report stated that Shreyas is almost going to be added to Grade B of the BCCI Central Contract list, meaning he would annually earn Rs. 3 crore. Adding to the context, Shreyas was the highest run-scorer for India in their victorious campaign of Champions Trophy 2025.

He played in the entire domestic season and that’s all that was expected of him. He also picked up form during these matches that helped him in the Champions Trophy,” a BCCI source told the publication.

Mohammed Shami might miss out on the contract:
The report also stated that Mohammed Shami might miss out from a BCCI central contract since he was injured throughout the year in 2024. He only made a return in year 2025 in the T20i series against England.

Apart from that, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are going to regain their A+ contracts, even though they have retired from T20Is. This A+ contract means they will earn Rs. 7 crore annually. The same is going to happen for Ravindra Jadeja, as he will also regain his central contracts despite retirement from T20Is.
