Team India’s coach hunt seems to find no concrete solution after which BCCI has decided to opt for advertising the post for the same. The board has reached a point where they are facing frequent rejection from desired candidates. Most of the high-prolific candidates are not willing to take up the task due to several reasons. One of them being the added responsibility that comes along considering it is for Team India and the pressure. Also another added reason to the woes of the board is that former cricketers are not willing to take up the opportunity. India has Zimbabwe tour coming and so is the Tests series against West Indies, which is building the pressure more. ALSO READ: BCCI secretary: India support staff to be named soon

A top BCCI official spoke to Times of India and said, “We had spoken to a few people but most of them were reluctant citing they needed to be with their families. The jib of Indian team’s coach would mean being away from their families for long periods. The coaching profiles have changed over the past few years. Nobody wants to endure pressure and strain that comes with being with Team India all through the year. They prefer to have shorter stints with IPL and Big Bash League (BBL) teams, which gives them good money and also a lot of free time to spend with families.” ALSO READ: Anurag Thakur not youngest-ever BCCI President

The official also added, “ We had spoken to few people who have finished their India careers recently, but they too are reluctant. It is a difficult situation. The advertisement for the job, which will clearly spell out the criteria, should be out by Friday or Saturday.”
