Currently involved in a bar-brawl case, England all-rounder Ben Stokes is likely to be stripped of his role as vice-captain. Vice-captain of the Test side, Stokes’ chances of keeping the post in the upcoming The Ashes 2017-18 looks bleaker by the day. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Director of Cricket Andrew Strauss himself confirmed about Stokes’ arrest post the third One-Day International against West Indies. According to Dailymail.co.uk, Stokes was involved in a verbal spat that soon turned into t physical fight. The police reports referring to Stokes as 26-year-old, states that an X-Ray took place on his hands, a claim ECB deny.

The incident took place right outside Bristol’s late-night Mbargo bar. Stokes has already had his shares of off-field incidences that have tarnished his on-field excellence. With The Ashes squad nearing announcement, Strauss has a lot on his hands. Strauss maintains that players will be selected on bases of fitness and form.

The daily also revealed that Stokes was involved in a late-night outing last month during the South Africa Test series. Stokes partied late till the wee hours of 3 am before returning to the hotel after first days of play in the Manchester Test against South Africa.

As for the Bristol-Brawl case of Stokes, it is unlikely a court hearing will take place in the near future unless charges are pressed against him.
