Ben Stokes strikes form for Canterbury in New Zealand domestic T20 competition

Stokes, banned from international duties over an alleged fight outside a nightclub, is seeking to retain match fitness with a stint in New Zealand.

Marred with poor form and controversies, Ben Stokes finally came good for Canterbury. Playing for Canterbury in New Zealand’s domestic T20 competition, Stokes blasted a 47-ball 93 against Otago.

Stokes struggled to score runs in the one-day competition, managing only 36 runs in three games for Canterbury so far. His 93 contained seven sixes and six fours, helping Canterbury put 217 for 9 in 20 overs.

In reply, Otago were bundled out 83 runs in 11.4 overs. Stokes recorded figures of 1 for 17 in 2 overs. Todd Astle starred with the ball, picking 3 wickets for 18. Skipper Rob Nicol top scored for Otago hitting a 16-ball 26.

Stokes was suspended by ECB after his involvement in a street-pub brawl came out in public. Currently awaiting an impending decision on his investigation, Stokes received an NOC last month to play for his hometown Canterbury.
