Kolkata: Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Joint Secretary, Avishek Dalmiya on Friday applauded the state cricket team for reaching the quarter-final stage of the Ranji Trophy 2015-16 tournament. “Many Congratulations to the entire cricket team for reaching the quarters of the Ranji Trophy. I also congratulate the coaches and support staffs on the success,” said Avishek Dalmiya. “I hope and pray that we would persist putting up a good show in the forthcoming matches as well. Bengal today qualifed for the knockout stage after grabbing three points from their drawn Group A match against Assam at Guwahati. Bengal are occupying the second place with 28 points in the Group A points table, headed by Vidarbha with 29 points. The knock out quarter finals are to be held from February 3-7, 2016.
Bengal and Assam qualifed for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament after grabbing three and one point respectively from their drawn Group A match. While Bengal had already ensured their place in the quarterfinals after they forced Assam to follow on yesterday, the hosts also managed to sneak into the knockout stage after denying the visitors an outright win, finishing at 143 for 8 on the fourth and final day here. Bengal and Assam are occupying the second and third place with 28 and 26 points respectively in the Group A points table, headed by Vidarbha with 29 points.
