Bengaluru played host to the inaugural Blind T20 World Cup in 2012, and five years later, the tournament returned to India and is being held across the country. The Blind T20 World Cup 2017 began on January 30. India were the winners of the inaugural season. A total of 48 matches will be played throughout the tournament. The final of the tournament will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 12. For every win, the winner gets three points. Apart from India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies are participating.
Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid was appointed the ambassador of the tournament. Upon being appointed the ambassador, Dravid said, “It is deeply gratifying to be able to do my bit to support the cause of cricket for the blind, there is abundant cricketing talent in them and they are a great inspiration, reminding us that real vision lies inside of us and nothing in the world can blind it. Growth of cricket for the blind in India and in the world will encourage people with special needs to trust in their inner abilities and unleash their true potential.” For them, cricket is the window to their souls…
