India’s 15-member squad for England ODI series and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy was announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar during a press conference on Saturday. The conference was also attended by skipper Rohit Sharma while head coach Gautam Gambhir was absent.

One of the names that didn’t appear in India’s squad for the ICC tournament was that of Karun Nair, who performed exceptionally well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 752 runs in 7 matches at an extraordinary average of 752. The batter scored 5 centuries and a half-century, leading Vidarbha to the final.

Nair will be featuring in the final against Karnataka which is set to take place on Saturday. The batter was also recently praised by legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar who pointed out that Karun’s brilliant performances in the domestic tournament are a result of immense focus and hard work.

“Scoring 752 runs in 7 innings with 5 centuries is nothing short of extraordinary, @karun126 (Karun Nair). Performances like these don’t just happen, they come from immense focus and hard work. Keep going strong and make every opportunity count!” Tendulkar wrote on X.

Following Karun’s snub from the India squad for Champions Trophy, many people took to social media to express their displeasure over the selection committee’s decision.
