In Match 12 of fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017, Comilla Victorians outplayed Rajshahi Kings comprehensively. Batting first, Kings were jolted by Afghanistan’s spin duo, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan, and never recovered since then. In pursuit of 116, Victorians finished the chase with 29 balls to spare courtesy Jos Buttler’s fifty.
Opting to bowl, Victorians kept things tight. Lendl Simmons looked good for his 40, but fell short of company. The likes of James Franklin, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque lacked steam against Rashid, Nabi and Dwayne Bravo. Rashid was economical and conceded runs at 1.75 per over.
In reply, Victorians started off aggressively. Liton Das’s cameo propelled them to 23 for 1 inside 2 overs. From thereon, the momentum was carried forward by Buttler. He remained unbeaten and added 97 runs for the second wicket with Imrul Kayes (40). Farhad Reza and Kerserk Williams were most expensive in particular.
