Luke Ronchi (78) and Taskin Ahmed (3 for 31) shone as Chittagong Vikings registered an 11-run victory over Rangpur Riders in Match No. 7 of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017. Winning the toss at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the Riders put Vikings to bat. Ronchi was the solo star as Vikings put up a par score of 166 for 4 at the end of their 20 overs. Ronchi faced 35 balls and hit 7 fours and 7 sixes during his stunning knock, while no other batsmen from his side managed to go past fifty. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was the second highest run-getter with his unbeaten 31. Ravi Bopara bagged a couple of wickets for the Riders, while his captain Mashrafe Mortaza and Thisara Perera bagged a wicket apiece.

However, the Vikings changed the game during the chase. The openers were sent back for very little contributions and Vikings reduced Riders to 20 for 2. As Bopara and Shahriar Nafees tried to build a partnership to bring their side back on track, Taskin removed both. He picked up 2 more wickets to reduce the Riders to 119 for 7 from 105 for 4. Riders innings came to an end with 155 for 8 on the board. Bopara s 38 was the highest by any Rangpur batsman. Taskin was handed the Man of the Match for his commendable performance of bagging 3 wickets and executing a run out.
