In the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017, Sylhet Sixers were thrashed by hosts Dhaka Dynamites, courtesy an all-round effort from Pakistan’s former skipper Shahid Afridi. Sixers were reduced to 101 for 9 as Afridi claiming a 4-for. The right-hander played aggressively in a paltry chase to finish things off with 73 balls to spare. Sixers remain on top of the points table after 3 wins of 5 encounters.

Opting to bowl, Dynamites made early inroads. Sixers were reduced to 33 for 5 inside 6 overs. Abu Hider removed openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Upul Tharanga before Afridi and Sunil Narine operated from both ends. The middle overs choked Sixers completely, as they went from 33 for 6 to 61 for 9. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan, Narine and Afridi’s trio proved too much for the table toppers. An unbeaten 48-run stand between Abul Hasan and Taijul Islam, for the 10th wicket, pushed the total to three figures.

Dynamites’ openers left nothing for the middle order and completed formalities within 8 overs. Evin Lewis and Afridi came out all guns blazing to surpass the target. Together, the duo smashed 10 sixes. Lewis hit the winning runs off Wanidu Hasaranga to take Dynamites to the second spot.
