Brad Haddin retires: VVS Laxman congratulates Australian wicketkeeper on fantastic career

Brad Haddin played 66 Tests for Australia: all of them coming after he turned 30 following the retirement of Adam Gilchrist.

VVS Laxman, CricketCountry’s Chief Cricket Mentor on Wednesday wished Brad Haddin a fulfilling retirement from international cricket. He also congratulated the former Australian wicketkeeper batsman on a fantastic career. Haddin got warm wished for his Australian team mates and from cricketers from around the world. Haddin retired from the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 triumph for Australia along with the retirement of Michael Clarke. He joins a list of Australians who have retired this summer after a 2-3 Ashes Test. Ryan Harris, Clarke, Haddin, Shane Watson have all retired from whites and the new captain Steven Smith will have a tough task rebuilding the team. Earlier in the day, Haddin said, “I put myself in that position to not come back, my performances with the bat probably hadn’t been where they should be. I made the decision for my family that I was unavailable for the Lord’s Test. We’re playing a professional sport and I understand the consequences that come with that. My performances with the bat over the last little bit put myself into that position.” The New South Wales (NSW) cricketer played 66 Tests for Australia: all of them coming after he turned 30 following the retirement of Adam Gilchrist.
