BREAKING: Arshdeep Singh wins ICC T20I cricketer of the year award

The 25-year-old Indian pacer had a stellar 2024 and gave sensational bowling performances throughout the year

India left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who was among the star performers in India’s T20 World Cup campaign, has been named as the T20I cricketer of the year by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Arshdeep had a great 2024 as it was the year where he finally established himself as one of the best bowlers in the shortest format with fantastic performances on the international stage.

Arshdeep beat Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Australia’s Travis Head and Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza to clinch the massive award. The 25-year-old expressed his gratitude after winning the award and thanked the support staff and players who helped him.

“I feel great to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year. Really grateful and thankful to the god. Thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes, and credit goes to the support staff and players who helped me to get the best of me. The special moment, as you would say, every Indian, the T20 World Cup final win, and I am looking forward to making such more memories,” Arshdeep said in a video posted on ICC’s website.

With 36 wickets in 2024, Arshdeep was the highest wicket-taker for India in the shortest format. Not only this, there were only 4 more bowlers who took more wickets than the left-arm pacer in T20Is during the year.

The bowlers who picked up more wickets than Arshdeep during 2024 are Saudi Arabia’s Usman Najeeb (38), Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga (38), UAE’s Junaid Siddique (40), and Hong Kong’s Ehsan Khan (46 wickets).
