Brendon McCullum dismissed for 42 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2016

Royal Challengers Bangalore set up target of 181 against Gujarat Lions with Virat Kohli's maiden T20 century and KL Rahul achieving his first half-century.

Gujarat Lions (GL) started their run chase with old opening pair of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) now playing for GL between Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith. They built a partnership of 47-runs, with Smith exiting for 32. While McCullum did aim to do a Virat Kohli staying until the end of the inning but missed the chance once again of his half-century and was gone for 42 by RCB mysterious spinner Taibraz Shamsi. RCB received their second breakthrough, stopping a partnership to build up. As for the bowling department for GL, Dhawal Kulkarni provided the first breakthrough with Watson’s wicket and at 7.4 over it was de Villiers being picked by Pravin Tambe. Fielders Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja left no opportunity to miss the chance of important wickets. But the game belonged to Kohli and Rahul from the 8th over until the end of inning. RCB won the toss for first time in IPL 2016 with skipper Kohli making few changes initially on their side with KL Rahul remaining out for this game and bringing in Kedar Jadhav. As for the balling department, Yuzvendra Chahal was called in replacing Harshal Patel.

Soon after the toss, Mandeep Singh was injured and Rahul also made entry to the playing XI. While both teams were preparing for the game, Australia umpire Bruce Oxenford took the field with shield on his right hand to protect himself on the field.
