It was a marathon effort from the New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. He walked in when New Zealand were 52 for three on Day Three and on Tuesday he will walk out to bat on the final day eyeing the highest individual score by New Zealand batsman. McCullum, unbeaten on 281 will eye Martin Crowe‘s record of 299 runs. During his innings McCullum surpassed many of the other records including his previous best Test score of 225 against India.

Updated at the end of Day 4 when McCullum was unbeaten on 281.
McCullum, along with BJ Watling also posted the highest-ever partnership for the sixth wicket in Test cricket history. The duo got past the record set by Mahela Jayawardene and Prasanna Jayawardene. The Sri Lankan pair added 351 runs against India at Ahmedabad in 2009.
