Brendon McCullum had a fantastic year in Test cricket which consisted of a triple and a double century against India, a double hundred against Pakistan in UAE and finally a fantastically ferocious 195 against Sri Lanka at home. He scored 195 off just 134 balls and had the position for fastest Test double hundred in sights when he got out. However, his innings had a wholesome impact of the out come of the game and New Zealand emerged victorious. He hammered the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park left them deflated. His innings helped New Zealand to a commanding first innings score of 441. The knock gave New Zealand an opportunity to win not just the match but also the series. Sri Lanka eventually lost the match by eight wickets and McCullum was rightfully awarded the man of the match.

McCullum has 11 Test centuries in his 94 Tests at a above par strike rate of 63 and a decent average of 39. His Test career has taken a major leap in the previous year in which period his performances in whites have for the first time often eclipsed his limited overs performance.
