After much delay, Australia are all set to tour Bangladesh for a two-Test series in the month of August. Cricket Australia’s (CA) chief executive James Sutherland said that final minute details are being worked upon and he is confident that Australia will get the go ahead. Australia are supposed to play two tests, one in Dhaka and other in Chittagong. Australia were originally to tour Bangladesh in 2015 but their tour was called off due to security concerns raised by the nation’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. With arch-rival England’s successful tour of Bangladesh last year, it has become unavoidable for Australia to tour. Hosts look for resurgence; visitors eye winning start with CT17 in mind

“We’re just working through all the details. I’m very pleased to be at a stage of really fine-tuning the detail – there are still some things that we need to work through just to lock down on security,” Sutherland said in his press-interaction.

He further added, “Once our hosts have locked in dates and the schedule, then from us it’s all systems go, subject to any security concerns we might have. From all the research we’ve done and the work we’ve done with (the Department of) Foreign Affairs and others through government agencies, we’re confident the tour will take place.”

It was only last month that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President, Nazmul Hasan said that the series will go ahead as planned. “I am saying it because the president of their board told me on the last day of the meeting that he and his wife are coming to watch the first Test. That was the first time he said anything about the series during the meeting,” Hasan stated.
