Concerned with postponement of matches due to monsoon, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to plan the upcoming season meticulously.

In a meeting attended by President Jagmohan Dalmiya, it was decided that CAB would make sure that the next season was planned properly so as to avoid any washout.

“Many CAB matches were affected or postponed because of the bad weather. We don’t want a repeat in the next season. So we will plan it accordingly so that the domestic tournaments are not affected even because of any international matches at the Eden,” Dalmiya said.

The seasoned cricket administrator set for another term at CAB with no contest from the opposition. The meeting also requested the members for a smooth conduct of the Annual General Meeting on July 27.

Bad weather meant that East Bengal were crowned champion by the toss of coin as the final against bitter rivals Mohun Bagan in the senior knock-out championship was affected by rain.

The concluding match of the local cricket season at the Eden Gardens was washed out after a brief session, forcing the organisers (Cricket Association of Bengal) to decide the match through the toss of coin. East Bengal captain Shib Sagar Singh called correctly to give East Bengal their only title of the season.

Earlier the CAB two-day league had to be shifted to Chennai where three knockouts including the final was held.

The T20 championship for the P Sen Trophy also couldn’t be held thanks to monsoon rains.
