Callum Ferguson signed a three-year deal with Sydney Thunder. Ferguson, who has played for Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers previously in BBL, will represent Sydney Thunder starting this season of BBL. The Thunder confirmed about it on Wednesday.

According to Cricbuzz, Ferguson said: “I’ve known Huss [Michael Hussey, Director of Cricket of Thunder] for a long time. We got on really well when we played together. I’ve played with Shane Watson, Ben Rohrer and Aiden Blizzard. There’s a few guys who I’ve had a really good time playing with or against in the past and I’ve had really good dealings with all of them. There’s a lot of things that attracted me to Sydney Thunder, Sydney’s a great city and I’m looking forward to the experience of being a senior player in a young and talented group.”

Ferguson will now have an opportunity to work again with Paddy Upton, head coach of Sydney Thunder. Ferguson and Upton were together for Pune Warriors in IPL. Ferguson was all in praise of Upton: “He’s a very calming influence and makes sure the players have everything they need, which is what I’ve heard coming out of the Thunder and also my experience with him in the Pune Warriors in the IPrguson’s T20 average is a modest 22.50, Hussey is impressed with his form: “Callum is one of the most talented batsman in Australia, He’s been one of our main targets throughout the off-season and we know that there was a lot of competition for his signature. Callum brings a lot of experience and has played at the very highest level, we’re all very excited to welcome him to the club.
