Sri Lanka‘s lower order batsman, Chamara Kapugedara‘s unbeaten knock of 48 was the highlight of the Sri Lankan innings as they posted a challenging total of 172 against visitors Pakistan in the second and final T20I match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday. Also, Shehan Jayasuriya played a healthy knock of 40 and contributed his part in the score. Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper, Lasith Malinga won the toss and elected to bat first as a couple of changes were made, with Angelo Mathews missing out due to injury and Shehan Jayasuriya replacing him, while Kithuruwan Vithanage wass replaced by Dasun Shanaka, as Pakistan moved in with an unchanged squad. Sri Lanka started their innings on an explosive note, with openers, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kusal Perera off to an explosive start, scoring 24 runs within the opening three overs. However, the ambitious effort prove to be costly as Dilshan fell for mere 10 after a pull off Anwar Ali to Mohammad Hafeez. The fresh pair of Dhananjaya de Silva and Shehan Jayasuriya held the innings for around five more overs and put up crucial 29 runs, before de Silva fell for mere 14 to Shahid Afridi, who bowled him up. The very next over saw the hard-hitting all-rounder, Thisara Perera depart for a mere single after being stumped by Mohammad Rizwan off Shoaib Malik.
The next pair of Shehan Jayasuriya and Milinda Siriwardana added more crucail 26 run stand for the fifth wicket, before Jayasuriya fell for 40 to Sohail Tanvir after being caught by Imad Wasim, as he departed being the highest run scorer for the team. However, it was the pair of Milinda Siriwardana and Chamara Kapugedara, who added the most and the biggest stand of 55 runs, before Siriwardana fell in the 19th over to Mohammad Irfan for 23. Out came Dasun Shanaka, and along with Kapugedara contributed the final 27 runs as Sri Lanka finished on a challenging total of 172.
