Champions Trophy 2025: Varun Chakravarthy’s fifer along with Fifty by Shreyas Iyer help India win over New Zealand by 44 runs

The Indian team has won their final match of the league-stage against New Zealand, and have come out as the table-toppers of Group A. Now the Men in Blue will face Australia in the semifinals of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Indian team has won their last league-match against New Zealand by 44 runs and have come from their Group as the table-toppers with 6 points to their name. This victory has secured their place in the semifinals against Australia in Dubai.

Shreyas Iyer was the star of India’s innings as he scored 79 runs, and Varun Chakravarthy was the star from the bowling side, as he claimed a fifer for the team.

Indian innings began with a slow pace, with the team witnessing three quick wickets in the starting phase. It was Shreyas Iyer who had steadied the innings, helping the team by the most with his 79-run knock. Apart from Shreyas, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya also made decent contributions with scores of 42 and 45.

The Men in Blue completed their quota of 50 overs, but saw wickets falling at a continuous pace. Even after that, the team posted a total score of 249 for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs.

New Zealand team came in at a decent pace. Even though the team was struggling with India’s pace bowling attach and losing wickets earlier than expected, Kane Williamson was the star of the innings with his knock of 81 runs. Will Young, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham, Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner also had made contributions of less than 30 runs.

With this match, India has come out of Group A at the table-toppers and will face Australia in the semifinal in Dubai.
On the other hand, as New Zealand lost the match, and they will be facing South Africa in the semifinal in Lahore.
