England Women captain Charlotte Edwards created history on Saturday by becoming the first batswoman to slam as many as nine centuries in One-Day International (ODI) format. Charlotte achieved the feat during the second ODI against India Women at Scarborough.
Charlotte faced 145 balls and cracked as many as 11 boundaries to reach 108 not out, as the opener carried her bat in the second ODI. England lead the three-match series 1-0 having won the first match at the same venue.
The England captain overtook compatriot Sarah Taylor as the batswomen with most centuries, as the latter has scored eight tons in her international career. Former Australia batswoman Karen Rolton is at the third spot with eight tons in 141 matches. On the other hand, Charlotte has achieved the feat in her 180th game in the 50-over format.
Charlotte’s ton in the second ODI is also her first at home against India.
