Chennai captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat in the final match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Chennai are seeking their second consecutive IPL title after beating Mumbai Indians in the 2010 edition. Bangalore, losing finalists of the 2009 edition, are eyeing their maiden victory in the Twenty20 competition.
