Chris Cairns granted bail on perjury charge

Ex-New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns has been granted bail by Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London after being charged with perjury last month.

According to a report in bbc.com, 44-year-old Cairns appeared in the court relating to a libel action he brought in England in 2012.

Cairns won £90,000 in damages after he sued Lalit Modi, former Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament, over an accusation of match-fixing made on Twitter in January 2010.
