Chris Gayle is famous for his antics both on and off the field, and on Monday, he left a lady interviewer — well-known television personality in Australia, Mel McLaughlin — blushing when he asked her out for a drink, on camera. Gayle was already in a jovial mood as the swashbuckling cricketer was going on having fun on social media before his Big Bash League (BBL) game, between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Renegades. The Twitter account of Ladbrokes Australia tweeted a video, in which Gayle was shown as the rapper 50 Cent. The tweet said that this is what Gayle likes to do in the dressing room ahead of a match. Gayle laughed off the tweet, saying if he would own a team, this can actually come into reality. ALSO READ: COMPLETE COVERAGE: Chris Gayle sexist remark to Australian journalist controversy
Well, little did the world imagine what Gayle will be up to. Already in a jolly mood, he made a mincemeat of the Hobart Hurricane’s bowling attack as he smashed three sixes and four boundaries to score 41 off just 15 balls. Melbourne Renegades won the game by a comfortable margin of 5 wickets, and with 36 balls to spare.
Gayle was the first batsman to be dismissed during Melbourne Renegades’s chase. But by the time he fell, the Melbourne Renegades had already made as many as 84 runs for the first wicket in less than six overs. Indeed, Gayle’s innings had a big role to play in it.
When Ten Sport journalist Mel McLaughlin went to the Melbourne Renegades’s dugout for a small chat with the Caribbean batsman, he had something to say which left her blushing completely. And much to the horror of the reporter, Gayle even told her not to blush! While Gayle had his trademark laugh that followed the question, all that Mel could do was to take that in stride and proceed with the interview.
