A Chris Lynn special overshadowed an maiden T20 century by Colin Munro as Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Trinbago Knight Riders by six wickets in Match 5 of Caribbean Premier League 2016. Having been put into bat, Tribango posted 162 for 5 on the board thanks to a maiden T20 century from Colin Munro. The star of the bowling was Sohail Tanvir, who ended up with 2 for 21 in his four overs. But Guyana were always on the front foot during their chase. Chris Lynn scored an outstanding 77, and was duly supported by Jason Mohammed, who stayed till the end to be unbeaten at 33. For Trinbago, skipper Dwayne Bravo took 2 for 34, and was well complimented by Sunil Narine. ALSO READ: Hashim Amla, Dwayne Bravo broke 9-year-old record in CPL 2016
Trinbago had another horrible start, as Brendon McCullum was gone for a golden duck and last match’s hero Hashim Amla departed for a mere 6. Since then, Darren Bravo and Munro steadied the ship, with the latter scoring at quick pace. Bravo was doing well from other end to stay at the crease and provide the strike to the Australian. But the West Indian was removed for 12 by Zampa, which bought in the skipper Dwayne Bravo.
The elder Bravo did well to go along with Munro, but he could not repeat his heroics from the last game, as he was caught at long off for 18. Umar Akmal came in next, but departed in no time. In the end, Kevon Cooper stuck along with Munro as the Australian reached his maiden T20 century. Cooper himself delivered a few blows in the final over as he ended his innings at 16 and Trinbago finished their innings at 162 for 5.
In their chase, Guyana got off to a flying start, as Dwayne Smith was on song, scoring a 18-ball 26. He was dismissed by Narine, who in his very first over, built the pressure with four dot balls, and got his wicket in the fifth ball. Lynn was the next to come at the crease, but he took time to settle.
From the other end, Martin Guptill took charge and made sure the run-rate was always under control. He was soon dismissed for 25 by Nikita Miller. After that, Mohammed came in and formed a brilliant 76-run partnership with Lynn. It was the Australian who took charge, with Mohammed taking his time to settle.
Lynn took on the Trinbago bowlers for plenty, scoring 8 sixes on his way to 77. But his 43-ball knock was ended by Bravo, who caught him lbw in the penultimate over. By the time Lynn was dismissed, Guyana needed eight from 10 balls. Their was a bit of scare to follow as Bravo removed Chris Barnwell to take the game to the final over. But Mohammed stayed calm and hit a six of the second delivery to earn his side a win.
Brief Scores: Trinbago Knight Riders 162 for 5 (Colin Munro 100*, Dwayne Bravo 18; Sohail Tanvir 2 for 21) lose to Guyana Amazon Warriors 166 for 4 (Chris Lynn 77, Jason Mohammed 33*; Dwayne Bravo 2 for 34) by 6 wickets
